OAKonsult

Disabilities Outreach

The OAK Club

A student-led club for disability awareness and inclusion. Our first chapter is at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, launched on 7 October 2026.

What the club is for

The OAK Club brings students together to learn about disability, challenge misconceptions and make inclusion part of everyday campus life. It is run by students, with support from our team.

  • Learn: seminars and workshops on disability, inclusion and the lives of families who care for a disabled child.
  • Lead: speak up for inclusion on campus and take on roles in your chapter.
  • Volunteer: help at selected OAKonsult outreaches, seminars and workshops in Nigeria.
  • Meet families: spend time with people with disabilities and their families, and understand their lives beyond a diagnosis.

Starting with future doctors

Our founding members at LAUTECH are medical students. One day they will be the doctors families turn to. We want them to see the person behind every diagnosis, and the family behind every child with a disability.

As we told them when we met: you may not be able to change the whole world, but you can change someone’s world.
