Statistics show that over one billion people, or 15% of the world’s population, live with some form of disability. Out of this lot, only 5% are effectively reached by the Gospel. OAKonsult has a mandate within the disability community to reach out to as many as the Lord allows us to reach within the remaining 90% – 95% of the world’s disabled people who have never heard or are not effectively being reached by the Gospel of Christ.
With an absolute commitment to the Luke 14 Mandate which states:
“The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’ “‘Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’ “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in so that my house will be full.”
Luke 14 Vs 21- 23 (NIV Version)
OAKonsult is actively narrowing this gap through:
- Training
Beyond Suffering Program (BYS)
One of the practical resources OAKonsult introduces to Christian learning institutions (e.g., Seminaries, Bible Colleges, etc.) and churches towards creating awareness of disability ministry is the ‘Beyond Suffering: A Christian View on Disability Ministry Course’.
The BYS course is a comprehensive program presented by the Christian Institute of Disability (under Joni and Friends Ministry, USA) and designed to present a thorough biblical perspective on the issues of disability and suffering.
This course is life-changing! It challenges the audiences’ perception of suffering and equips the Christian body with an adequate and balanced knowledge of disabilities and healing.
The Beyond Suffering (BYS) Curriculum

Testimonials
“My vision for ministry among people living with disability got rekindled.”
Reverend Mrs Oyeniyi
“The course was a great eye opener. We went beyond just exhausting the course material but learnt for the purpose of transformation. The lesson was made very practical and interactive. It is a course that needs to be more widely adopted as we need to open up our hearts to this special ministry opportunity.”
Pastor Gamaliel
“This course is power packed, with new discovery and acquisition of new skills in service. I think it’s perfect.”
Pastor Mrs. Ayinde
“Taking this course brought back the many scriptures about making disciples of all nations. I normally would add including children. However, with this course and its impact so great on me, I would add henceforth, including people living with disabilities. Thank you for this course. May God bless you for this effort.”
Dr. Mrs. Areo
“It was a beautiful course. It was a very good means of hands-on learning. There is so much to learn and to share! Many thanks to ‘Joni and Friends’ for this vision and for blessing the whole world.”
Reverend Mrs. Ayo-Obiremi
“I thank God for the course, I have been ministering to 5 children living with disabilities in my Bible club over the years. I am close to them and their families. I take care of them; I love them so much and they also love me. I have had a course on Disabilities during my MPhil, but nothing has given me the push as this course did. It has really opened my eyes on the know-how and the urgency to work.”
