Community Engagement Officer
Hours of work: 40 Hours per week over five days.
Salary: ₦70,000 per month
Flexible/Start date: TBA.

About Us: OAKonsult is a faith-based organization dedicated to introducing the gospel of Christ to the disability community. We empower parent carers and families with biblical principles and truths, promoting a culture of inclusion and supporting holistic physical, social, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of children and young people with disabilities and special needs.
Role Overview: We are seeking a passionate and committed Community Engagement Officer who will work closely with the Team to engage the people of Oyo State and its environs. This role is critical in driving OAKonsult’s mission forward by actively seeking opportunities for representation, building relationships with stakeholders, and creating visibility for the organization across Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Outreach and Relationship Building
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with families, parent carers, local businesses, faith-based organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Organize and attend community events, workshops, and meetings to raise awareness about OAKonsult’s services and programs.
- Act as the primary point of contact for community members seeking information or support.
Program Promotion and Participant/Volunteer Recruitment
- Promote OAKonsult’s programs, such as the BYS Course, Project Me, and the Praying Carer Channel, through various channels including social media, local events, and partnerships.
- Identify and recruit program participants, ensuring outreach efforts are inclusive and reach underserved populations.
- Recruit volunteers to support OAKonsult’s various initiatives and events.
Advocacy, Awareness, and Collaboration
- Advocate for the needs and rights of the disability community, focusing on Oolo, Ogbomoso, Oyo and its surrounding communities
- Raise awareness of disability issues and promote inclusion in community life.
- Establish partnerships with local governments, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and other relevant organizations. Collaborate to create opportunities for shared initiatives and resources.
Event Planning, Data Collection, and Communication
- Plan and coordinate events that engage the community and support OAKonsult’s mission, such as workshops, support groups, and awareness campaigns.
- Gather feedback from community members and program participants to assess the impact of initiatives. Prepare reports on engagement activities, including demographics, feedback, and outcomes.
- Develop and distribute marketing materials, manage OAKonsult’s online presence, and ensure timely, accurate communication of events and services.
Who We Are Looking For:
- A committed Christian who is passionate about the Kingdom agenda and respects OAKonsult’s values.
- Experience: Previous experience in community engagement or volunteering in a similar capacity.
- Skills/Attitude:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in community outreach or engagement, particularly within the disability sector.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and event planning skills.
- A passion for advocacy and promoting inclusion.
- Familiarity with local community resources and networks
