Project ME

A programme that equips Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic parent-carers with holistic workshops, peer support and practical tools to thrive

Programme Overview

OAKonsult, in collaboration with Bromley Council, Your Voice in Health & Social Care, SEND Parenting and STUBS Disability Services, is excited to have received funding from the Civil Society Roots 3 Programme to develop a programme called ‘PROJECT ME’!

We will develop a holistic programme including workshops, training, practical sessions, focus groups and therapeutic content for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic parents and carers of children and young people with additional needs and disabilities in Bromley.

What Project Me Addresses

  • Breaking limiting beliefs – replacing cannot and should not thoughts

  • Setting achievable goals and using a simple SWOT for the caring role

  • Mental-health and emotional-wellbeing awareness

  • “The carer and her health” – nutrition, rest and movement

  • Stress-relief tasters (beauty & relaxation activities)

Future & Community

  • Routes back into employment or volunteering

  • Building supportive networks that last beyond the course

  • Engaging with the wider community for long-term change

Delivery Format

  • “Holistic programme” of workshops, training, practical sessions, focus groups and therapeutic content for BAME parent-carers in Bromley.

  • Sessions funded by Civil Society Roots 3 (Mayor of London) – FREE to participants.

  • Venue: Bromley (with online access for catch-up).
